Axcel Finance, the leading microfinance institution in the Caribbean, hosted students from Secondary Schools around the country, along with unemployed youth, at its Career Preparation Workshop 2019 which was held at the National Cultural Centre.
The theme for this event was “It’s Never Enough to Only Dream of Success: Work for It!”. The main aim of this event was to highlight career preparation as one of the most important developmental processes in a student’s experience.
Erlin Auguste, Operations Manager at Axcel Finance, said that as an organization “we are proud of our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts across the country and region. We provide free financial management workshops to the staff of all Employers in our network, career preparation workshops for new entrants into the workplace, seminars in interview skills, and our leadership teams regularly collaborate with the schools and youth organizations in our communities.”
In attendance was Minister for Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation Honourable Guy Joseph. The Minister praised Axcel Finance for continuing to host initiatives that develop the communities at large.
The initiative was welcomed and supported by Volunteer St Lucia out of the Office of the Prime Minister as its Director, Mrs. Dianne Felicien, presented on the topic Becoming an All Rounded Individual- The Power of Giving Back.
Another aspect of the Career Preparation Workshop was the Ted Talks styled informal session entitled “What Does Success Mean to You?” Speakers included Mr. David Henry, Ms. Danielle Du Bois and Ms. Jade Brown, News Director of MBC.
