Caribbean Business Report for 10th August 2020

Good day and many thanks for your interest in the Caribbean Business Report. It is a weekly e-newsletter that we circulate on a Monday. Feel free to share – the PDF is attached  or can be downloaded at

As the week begins there is a system in the Atlantic – well to the south of St. Lucia – for the time being. No reason for alarm just yet but a gentle reminder of what needs to be done to safeguard life and property.

Also a reminder that Covid-19 is still very real and that we should take no chances – wear a mask in public, continue to wash your hands often and social distance.

Congratulations to CPJ [showcasing XM rum] for making the first COVID-19 calypso show a reality -organised by Balance Inc with UNESCO as the presenting sponsor and strong support from CDF. If you missed it, there will be a repeat on Calabash TV Friday from 8pm. A second show is being planned for the Soca Artistes – that will likely take place in two weeks.

Congratulations to Fond Doux estate which continues to build its cabinet of awards. If you haven’t visited this green escape you’re missing out. Now is a good time to sample what future hotel developments in St. Lucia should look like. You can enjoy the true beauty of the island, immerse in its cultural and culinary  uniqueness and enjoy first world amenities. It is authentic and therapeutic.

And keep supporting the various farmers markets that are now springing up all over the island. Admac will host its next Farmers Market Experience the last Saturday of August. If you missed the last one -here are some of the exhibitors that you can support and in the process help reduce the food import bill!

Trudy’s Exotic Cuisine is one young food processor you should take note of. She has an outreach project that provides meals to those in need, even as her business is shut down, and she is also reaching out to youth who need guidance, counselling and networking. Her story is at 18.26 just after Abby’s Exotic Blends. Here is the link  We urge you to watch the entire video.
