Caribbean Business Report for 22nd July 2019

Good day and many thanks for your interest in the Caribbean Business Report –

CBR_issue_533

We are just coming out of a series of high profile events – the CARICOM Heads Conference, Carnival 2019, and the visit of the Taiwan President. And of course Mercury Beach!
And talking about the beach – we must congratulate Kashima Montoute Brand Owner and Creative Director for the Pas Jalous Swimwear brand – they’ve just made history in Miami – see the details in today’s CBR. A young St. Lucia making exceptional waves in Miami.
And next week another St. Lucia in Miami, who comes from Bois d’Orange – Donna Phllips of Perry Wings Plus. She is the owner of a restaurant chain that is building a growing reputation in Miami-  like the Colonel she has her own secret blend of herbs, spices and sauces – and as the name suggests chicken wings prepared like no other and served with uniquely St. Lucian culinary creativity. We will feature her story in next week’s CBR. If you are in Miami or going there anytime soon look out for Perry Wings Plus!
Reminder again that we are in the hurricane season, and if you are unprepared and uninsured your business can be at serious risk. Next week we will also have a feature on Spring Bakery in Canaries — the struggle is still on to rebuild and re-establish – years after Tomas washed away the riverside business. We will visit the owner, who needs [massive private and public sector help] and report next week. The business had been doing well, exporting bread to Martinique! Stay tuned.
