Well, we’re back to another partial shutdown -as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise. We should not get complacent because of the promise of vaccines. It is a highly contagious virus that will continue to spread at alarming rates once it can find a host who ignores all protocols.

We need to continue wearing masks in public, washing hands and yes still sanitising things like door knobs etc. Sadly, the number of Covid-related deaths continues to rise as well.

This break provides a good time to look at boosting our immune system – in other words, living a healthy lifestyle – stay away from sugary foods and drinks, and getting as close to a plant-based diet as possible. Choose green bananas over rice! Freshly squeezed juice over sugary imports – and we will be helping the local economy as well.

But there is much to celebrate – this month our Nobel Laureates and their global achievements – and now Dr. Hyginus Gene Leon – the new President of the Caribbean Development Bank. For those of you familiar with the Calypso fraternity, I think he is the brother of Fitzroy Bingo Leon. Earl Bousquet has a very detailed profile which can be read here.
Again, stay safe and productive.
