Daren Sammy donates laptops to Ministry of Education

International sportsman and St. Lucia’s most famous cricketer donated laptops to the Ministry of Education to contribute to St. Lucia’s COVID-19 relief efforts.

Following the government’s call for help with the new school system for laptop donations to teachers and students in need, Sammy decided to support the students by donating laptops.

Daren initially wanted to provide laptops for the Daren Sammy Foundation recipients, however, after finding out that they are all equipped and can follow the new education plan, he decided to donate laptops to the local Ministry of Education.

The donation was well received by Permanent Secretary Ms.Michelle Charles on behalf of Education Minister Dr. Gale Rigobert who disclosed on her official Facebook page that the former West Indies Cricket team captain and a two-time T20 World Cup Champion donated laptops to the Ministry of Education.

The Daren Sammy Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization set up with the mission to empower young people from St. Lucia and to provide them with the opportunity to become world-known professional athletes.
