First ever swim from Micoud to Smugglers Cove

Chris Allshouse, a 50 year old marathon swimmer from Ohio has created history and become the first person to swim from Micoud on the east coast to Smugglers Cove – a distance of 38 kilometers.

It took just over 12 hours and 19 minutes to complete the challenge. The conditions were rough at time, there were rain storms and a couple of attacks by stingrays. The swim took place November 29th, 2020, starting in Micoud at about 6:45am.

Allshouse was originally scheduled to swim St. Lucia to Martinique, but that was cancelled because of Covid-19. He still plans to do the St. Lucia to Martinique leg when the opportunity presents itself.

The swim from Micoud to Smugglers Cove, next to Cap Maison hotel, was made possible through the efforts of Sue Dyson of St. Lucia Channel Swim.

Chris was accompanied all the way by his wife and two teenage daughters.
