GRANT THORNTON, a local and international firm of chartered accountants, has donated EC$150,000 to three organizations in St. Vincent and the Grenadines that are spearheading the La Soufriere volcanic eruption relief effort.

On April 30, Floyd Patterson, the resident partner of Grant Thornton Windward Islands St. Vincent, handed over EC$100,000 to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO); EC$35,000 to the Red Cross, and EC$15,000 to the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School (SMRC) emergency shelter.

The SMRC school shelter’s donation is for the purpose of assisting the St. Benedict’s Day Nursery and Children Home occupants, who have relocated from Georgetown as a result of the eruption.

The money was raised directly from the Grant Thornton partnerships in the Eastern and Western Caribbean as well as the Grant Thornton International head office.

Grant Thornton St. Lucia donated food stuff and water to local shelters, and that staff members from his office are assisting in the relief efforts.
