Panel looks at impact of COVID-19 pandemic on local economy

Local public and private sector representatives are continuing discussions here on the real impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the local, regional and international economic landscape.

The most recent discussion was hosted by NTN, the National Television Service last night. It was entitled “COVID-19: Roadmap to Recovery – The Role of Investment”. 

The panel comprised Frank Myers, Chartered Accountant and Deputy Chairman of NIC; Karen Fontenelle-Peter, President, Chamber of Commerce; Alana Lansiquot-Brice, Investment Services Manager, Invest Saint Lucia and Tommy Descartes, Chief Economist, Department of Economic Development. The panel was moderated by Titus Preville, former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce.

The panel focused on subjects such as “The state of the economy”, “Building Financial Resilience”, “Investment Prospects”, “Initiatives/Support for Local Investment”, “Capital Expenditure and Development Projects”, “Saint Lucia’s Medium Term Development Strategy” and “New Opportunities”.
