When I lost my two year old grandson, Kamar to cancer back in February 2018 it was a difficult loss to understand and cope with.
The loss was far greater for his parents Melissa and Greshon who have poured their heart and soul into the foundation that they formed after we lost Kamar – ‘ Still Standing with Kamar’. The focus then and still is to raise the awareness of pediatric cancer.
September is known as Pediatric Cancer Month and recognized with a gold cancer ribbon. So every year we celebrate Kamar on the 17th September with an event called ‘Paint the town gold for Kamar’. The number of persons, schools, businesses that have joined us not just in St Lucia but globally in raising the awareness of pediatric cancer on this day is heart- warming.
‘Paint the Town Gold for Kamar’ was held on September 17th, but you can spread awareness of pediatric cancer as there are other children suffering from the disease.
