Postponement of 2020 National Population and Housing Census

The Central Statistics Office has announced the postponement of the 2020 National Population and Housing Census. It was due to start May 12, 2020. Director of Statistics Sean Curtis Mathurin made the announcement based on the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, in light of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The Census will be postponed for at least six months.

No decision has been made regarding a new Census Day. The Central Statistics Office was at an advance state of preparedness with its training and testing of questionnaire and the technology to be used in the 2020 Census.
