Republic Bank makes a $200,000 US contribution to OECS fight against COVID-19

The OECS Commission has welcomed the decision of Republic Bank to support the fight against COVID-19 in the region. The bank responded positively to a call from OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules.

Republic Bank EC Ltd, with presence in seven Eastern Caribbean territories has heeded the call from the OECS Director General Dr. Didacus Jules to join the fight against COVID-19.

Republic Bank EC Managing Director Michelle Palmer-Keizer said they were in the process of deciding how to assist the fight against the Coronavirus when the call came from the OECS. Their decision was to inject US2M into the efforts of the OECS Commission to help the region fight the coronavirus.

The Bank has pledged continued support and joined the OECS Director General in encouraging other private sector entities, regional and international agencies in ensuring the OECS states minimize the impact of COVID-19 on the region’s health and economy.

Dr. Jules said the OECS Commission is spearheading a coordinated approach on behalf of all member states.

The US$200,000.00 from Republic Bank will be used to purchase medication used in the treatment of COVID-19. The medicines will be distributed among nine (9) OECS Member States.

The funds will also support a regional strategic communications campaign around COVID-19. [END]
