The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) has implemented its Infectious and Communicable Diseases Management Plan as part of its measures to support the Ministry of Health in its Government-led efforts to detect and manage the possible importation of the Corona Virus (COVID-19).
This plan is in keeping with the Airport Council International (ACI) – Airport preparedness guidelines for outbreaks of communicable disease and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) – Guidance for Ship Operators for the Protection of the Health of Seafarers.
SLASPA’s plan is also in compliance with other industry protocols among which include: International Air Transportation Association (IATA) and International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO).
In addition to this, Health awareness information is being shared with all arriving passengers at the official ports of entry via digital screens within the Immigration and Customs Halls.
Further to this, isolation areas have been set up at the respective ports for Health Officials to assess passengers traveling from high-risk countries or who are exhibiting symptoms of the virus.
Additionally, Public Health and Safety audio messaging is being broadcast on PA systems throughout terminals.
