South African spends his week-end swimming from Barbados to St. Lucia

Calabash TV has uploaded its special report on the historic swim from Barbados to St. Lucia, undertaken by South African endurance athlete Cameron Bellamy.

This is the first time that this has been attempted and concluded successfully. Bellamy spent 56 hour and 26 minutes in the ocean for his unassisted swim. By the rules of marathon swimming he was not allowed to touch another human being or the support boat or kayak which accompanied him.

Bellamy left Barbados on Friday September 13th at 8:20am and touch rocks in St. Lucia on Sunday afternoon at 4:43pm – covering a distance of 151.2km.

Here is a special CTV production on the swim.
