St. Lucia raises 2.5m in COVID-91 Response Telethon for frontline workers

The corporate community, investors, development agencies, friends of St. Lucia, community groups and individuals came together on Easter Sunday to raise over $2.5 million dollars in a nationally televised telethon.

The COVID-19 Response Telethon, initiated by the Minister for Tourism Dominic Fedee aimed to raise much needed financial support for workers on the frontline badly in need of Personal Protective Equipment.

Also benefiting from the proceeds are underprivileged citizens who depend on the National Meals Programme. Over 5000 were fed on Easter Sunday.

The telethon which featured virtual performances from local artistes raised in excess of two and a half million dollars. Donations are still pouring in.

A GoFundMe page established specifically for the event will remain active for 30 days, allowing for additional contributions to the cause.
