St. Lucia to host National Symposium on Tourism Wednesday

The Ministry of Tourism, Information and Broadcasting, Culture and Creative Industries will hold a two day Symposium this Wednesday, June 26th, at The Harbour Club Hotel in Rodney Bay.

It will be held under the theme “New Directions for Tourism in Saint Lucia”, and is a significant activity to fulfil the development of a Tourism Strategy for the island.

Saint Lucia’s Minister of Tourism, Information and Broadcasting, Dominic Fedee is down to address the Opening Ceremony along with tourism luminary from The Bahamas, Mr Vincent Wallace-Vanderpool, who will serve as guest speaker.

The two-day event is expected to attract several industry leaders from across the island representing the accommodation sector, the yachting sector, tours and travel agencies, destination management companies, and a myriad of other tourism service agencies.

The programme for the Symposium includes a presentation on the findings from a Gap Analysis of the Tourism Sector recently undertaken as part of the development of the Strategy.

The Symposium will be facilitated by Keios Development Consulting, an Italian based firm, with global experience in the area of tourism development.

By the end of the Symposium, the consultants are expected to have a clear direction to formulate a new course for Sustainable Tourism Development in Saint Lucia.

This Symposium is held under the OECS Regional Tourism Competitiveness Project (ORTCP), a six year tourism development initiative, which is funded by the World Bank.
