Taiwan sets up new irrigation system in Micoud and Dennery

The Taiwan Ambassador His Excellency Peter Chen along with Embassy staff, visited the new irrigation systems that were established by the BPIP project in Micoud and Dennery.

Farms with new irrigation systems in Ranju, Fond, Troumasse, Canelle, and Moreau were visited.

The irrigation systems were recently established by Banana Productivity Improvement Project (BPIP) for banana farmers in those areas, using Taiwanese sprinkler lines imported by Taiwan Technical Mission.

The new irrigation system is convenient, efficient, time-saving, easy to maintain, and the sprinkler lines cost only 10% of the cost when compared to the drip lines. By extending irrigation in the dry areas, Agriculture production is expected to be stable during the dry season, and the quality of exported St. Lucia bananas would be enhanced.
