Technical Mission in Saint Lucia, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Co-operatives launched its Farmer’s Training program on September 16th 2019.
This training will continue for 6 weeks throughout all of the agricultural regions of Saint Lucia. It is our goal that at the end of the training, the local farmers will be able to offer higher quality goods, with increased yields and products with a longer shelf life through improved cultivation, harvesting and storage techniques.
These training sessions have even piqued the interest of several local hoteliers and they have requested that they participate in the Farmer Training. This will do two things:
Besides the Hotels, the purchasing officers from Saint Lucia’s major supermarket chain, Massy Stores will also be in attendance and have expressed interest in the training. For each class, farmers will be provided with writing material and printed documents that they can review after the sessions end.
