Taiwan Technical Mission introduce drone as agriculture sprayer

The Banana Productivity and Improvement Project is on a mission to assist the banana farmers of St Lucia, through the use of innovative technologies and tools that can be used to increase efficiency in the production of local and good quality bananas.

On Wednesday 17th March the Taiwan Technical Mission, under the Banana Productivity Improvement Project (BPIP), hosted a two-part workshop for the BPIP extension officers.

The officers were exposed to a video demonstration of the technical working of new drone technology brought to the island. The video was narrated by Specialist Johnson Wu of the Taiwan Technical Mission.

It highlighted the proper ways for drone maintenance and care to be done as well as the spraying capacity and all other specifications of the drone.

The second part of the training was held on Thursday 18th March. This training included an actual trial run of the drone.
